true that. honestly how hard is it for them to pull up the primary next of kin information. i know red cross is capable of doing it like a champ.

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

This is some type of urban legend of a chain letter. Paramedics don't give a shit about contacting your family! lol

They're just out there doing their jobs... which is to respond to medical emergencies by arriving as fast as possible and stabilizing you, long enough to at least get you to the hospital, then they rush off to restock the ambulance, fill out their report, and get back to the station...

maybe grab some food... lol

But, really why would they even care to call someone for you? Your family isn't going to help you live any longer.. the hospital is, so the get you there then let the hospital do the rest including contacting your family.

Which, just made me remeber one more thing, the hospital will check your wallet for medical cards/ standing orders etc... So you might be best off by placing a card in your wallet of emergency contact info.

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

they are training paramedics to look in peoples phones for this so its a good idea to do that, considering we do what we do as ryders.

I changed my wife's name to 1emergency....that way when someone picks up the phone, it is the first number in there...did the same on her phone but with my name...so far haven't tested the theory!

+1. I AM a medic and have never heard of this. I get to an accident, I'm worried about stabilizing the patient and getting em the hospital asap. Thats absolutely it. We would never, ever contact your family. Thats a huge waste of precious seconds for absolutely NO benefit to you. Contacting your family is for the hospital to do. (Or possibly the piggies) The only thing I would check for is a medic alert bracelet...

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

well at least then the hospital can call... if your phone survived, which mine never has. I never needed an ambulance, but I've busted a few phones crashing.

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

it doesn't have to be the paramedics calling. seconds after my accident the guy behind me stopped and picked up my phone and called my wife and that was 3 years ago. It might not help but I can tell you it made me feel alot better when i got to the hospital and the first thing I saw was my wife family and friends

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

I had ICE in my cell phone when i had my first crash; i wasnt unconcious but they asked me if i did have it in my phone, i said yes, and they said i was one of the first bikers they encountered that had it, and also it is the first thing they do when they work on you, even before checking your wallet for ID.

just thought i'd throw that in
