Pics of my truck...

I picked this up a few weeks ago. I wanted to wait until I had some mods done before posting pics.

It's a 2001 GMC Sonoma Crew Cab. It came fully loaded with keyless entry and a hard locking toneau cover.

Here's what I added... so far

- 2" body lift
- American Racing 16" rims
- BFG AT tires
- Chrome grill
- De-badged the tailgate

I still want to tint the front windows to match the back. I've tinted all of my vehicles myself and hope to tint this one sometime this weekend. I also want to cut away the stock grill behind the chrome one. You can see the mounting platform for the emblem. It's visible through the chrome grill and sorta looks funny IMO, so I'm getting ride of it.

Pics included are before and after shots. The 2" body lift pucks. The fender skirts to hide the gap. And the visible stock grill behind the chrome one that has to go!

Very sharp. I'm a big fan of the crew cabs.

Third S-10 in a row! Now that's brand loyalty.

The reflection of the building (gold strip) did fudge up that first pic. It was late in the evening.

As for the rims... I never liked black on black. I'm not a huge fan of chrome either, but feel like it works well against a black truck.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Yeah... I like the S-10/Sonoma series. I'm sure I'll grow tired of them after a few years with this rig. I wanted a Colorado or Canyon, but heard bad things about electrical and the motor. Then I started looking into the Nissan Frontier crew cabs... great looking trucks. But the price was outta my reach for what I wanted. Being poor sucks!

so...a real lift is? i believe a body lift is a real lift..it lifts the body 2", that seams to be a lift...i'm sure if you want to pay for it, he'd put a suspension lift on. For someone looking for a small amount of lift, not planning on major offroading and if the body lift is done right there's nothing wrong with a body lift.

Suspension lift was just over $2000(parts + install) and the lowest lift I could do was 5inches. The body lift was just under $1000(parts + install) and was only 2inches. There was no 3 or 4 inch option for my truck. So I went with the cheaper of the two. After all... it's a daily driver... not a crawler.

Unfortunately, it's an auto. The tranny works fine, but I'd much rather have a stick. I took the truck off roading for the first time the other day when I was in Milton. I took an old logging road and climbed some pretty steep and loose terrain and the tires hooked up very well.

What's your next project vehicle going to be?

Re: Pics of my truck...

It's amazing how shiny does the paint look. that flatbed door ( sp?) looked like a mirror... chromed rather than painted.

Pics of the frame show lots of rust though.. i mean, i haven't seen so much rust since early british Rover Metros..

LOL...lots of rust? You dont deal with salted roads in the winter do you? His frame is cleaner than 99.9% of the vehicles that are driven around here....the frame on my 2005 truck has more rust on it.
its a tailgate (flatbed door).

Re: Pics of my truck...

The paint isn't all that great. Average scratches and dings that go along with an 01' truck. Fresh wash, perfect lighting, and a good camera make it look a lot nicer than it really is. And that may be a lot of rust in Italy, but here in the states it's not bad for the year.
